Eric & Carmen 10th October 2020

I have known Barry for almost 50 years, since joining Air Canada together in the early 70’s and taking the same aircraft courses. Since Barry and Tizzy left Canada we have always lived a long distance apart yet through his children’s wedding’s, his 70th Birthday and FaceTime we have had regular frequent long phone calls usually about family, aircraft and such. It has always seemed that we live just down the street from each other. He was the best man at my wedding some 39 years ago, primarily on my wife’s insistence to make sure I showed up! I have always kept his Birthday and Christmas card because of the excellent humor similar I like to think as my own. He was the most popular and respected and knowledgeable employee of every aviation company for whom he worked from Air Canada to BA to British Caledonian to the CAA. Always the consummate engineer with a quiet calm attitude our love of aviation kept us even closer. Visiting he and Tizzy in the UK. Texas or the Cayman’s Carmen my wife also had the benefits of my close friendship with Barry. He will be sorely missed as a loving caring husband father and grandfather. I already miss our conversations and humorous banter. Not only was he my best friend but Barry was a close brother to me. With much love and affection Eric & Carmen Barnes
